2024 Future of Food Entrepreneurship Program Application
OVERVIEW
The Summer 2024 Future of Food Entrepreneurship Program will select 12 high school students for a four-week experience in Silicon Valley! High School students who have completed their junior or senior year are invited to apply for this externship program.
The Program
Selected students will participate in an exciting four-week rotational program at companies focused on food, climate, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
Students will gain insight, engage in meaningful work projects, and learn from executives, supervisors, and mentors.
Students will network with peers and senior leaders through work-based activities, special projects, and social events.
Students will participate in a “Sustainable Entrepreneurship Challenge,” where they will develop their own future of food company or consumer product with guidance from our mentors at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and partner companies.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
Have an interest in Food Tech, Entrepreneurship, Sustainability, Climate Change, and/or Technology
Complete the application
Attend a virtual interest session (Date TBD, an email will be sent to applicants with more details)
Applicants should have a strong academic record
Provide legal requirements to work
Provide proof of vaccination and booster
Complete a 250-400 word essay answering the prompts
Answer the questions that resonate with you most; applicants are not required to answer all questions but should answer at least two (2) of the prompts. This is an opportunity for us to get to know all of our applicants. There are no wrong answers!
How do you demonstrate leadership in your life? What does it mean to you to be a leader? How have you served as an example for others? How did you navigate and overcome a significant challenge?
How does socioeconomic status affect food equity and food access? Do you feel diversity is important to the structure of a business? What challenges do you see? How do you think the food system can solve climate change and human health challenges?

Info sessions are available and will take place virtually via Zoom. This info session will help with the application and answer any questions you may have.
